Why someone quits their Job?

As an entrepreneur I had about 25 colleagues quit my Startups over 20 years and in the 6 ventures I founded. Throughout all these ventures, cumulatively around 200 colleagues we hired to worked with. So kind of not bad having approx 10% attrition. This seems pretty acceptable attrition rate in todays time. Though its acceptable in hindsight, when I look back I realize that in those moments I was annoyed, disappointed, pained and disgruntled when the 25 colleagues quit or told me they are quitting. This list of 25 includes friends, relatives, cousins, persons whom we gave their first breaks, opportunity. Another post soon on why not to hire relatives in your #startup. 

Now having last 1 years experience of working as an employee. And when I am thinking now of quitting, I understand some of the reasons why someone quits their job. Though till now I believe most of the above who quit from our Startups, quit for more money or they used my startup as their career launch platform and then fled. Now after a year of employment, I am willing to grant that some might have quit for the reasons, I thought then but maybe any or few or all of the below reasons.

These are the reasons which is making me think of quitting my present job.

  1. Your Manager/Boss.
  2. Words said while getting hired & during course of employment are not followed through
  3. Appreciation & Recognition from the Organisation
  4. Your present work doesn’t lead you to your future growth path
    5. Where you want to go ahead is not aligned with Organization’s vision/mission
